Hi, I’m Charles Kubicek. I’m director of data enablement at Springer Nature, where my job is to turn the organisation’s AI and data-related ambitions into something real and deliverable.
I am an engineer and technical leader with a background spanning research, distributed systems, agile delivery, and consulting. More recently, that background in engineering rigor and distributed systems has drawn me toward data engineering, where the same problems show up under different names, where most organizations are still catching up, and where untapped values lies.
What I belive
On Delivery: The best software is delivered by small teams with clear goals, in iterations with tight feedback loops and close communication with end-users.
On Architecture: The role of the architect is to set the technical direction, communicate technical details in stakeholder language, unblock the team and continually reduce complexity across a technology estate.
Currently I’m learning about how LLM-based AI practically contributes to these areas to accelerate delivery and as an assistant to all roles invovled.
